The Light of Intangible Cultural Heritage Illuminates the Huangpu River Night: Principal Wang Wei Gifts to Promote Friendship On the evening of December 9, 2024, the "Pujiang Elegance • International Vision • World Leaders Welcome Dinner" was grandly held on a luxurious cruise ship on the Huangpu River in Shanghai. This dinner brought together dignitaries, entrepreneurs, and cultural celebrities from around the globe, witnessing a cross-border cultural exchange and friendship feast between China and the world.
During the event, Ms. Wang Wei, a member of the Yuhuatai District Committee of Nanjing's Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, principal of Nanjing Xingzhi Vocational Training School, and founder of Xingzhi Intangible Cultural Heritage Creative Museum, presented cloisonné enamel antique mirrors to former Hungarian President Novak Katalin and former Slovenian President Borut Pahor. These exquisite mirrors were crafted by her and female students from the "Iron Core Night School."
Cloisonné enamel, also known as "Jingtai Blue," is a traditional Chinese handicraft and part of China's intangible cultural heritage, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and unique artistic value. Copper mirrors, as treasures of ancient Chinese bronze art, were once indispensable daily items for royalty and nobility, only becoming widely available to the general public by the end of the Western Han Dynasty. Holding the finely made, beautifully shaped, and intricately patterned Jingtai Blue copper mirrors, the two former heads of state were captivated, carefully admiring and praising the charm of this traditional Chinese craft. They highly appreciated this precious gift, noting that it not only reflects the profound depth of Chinese culture but also symbolizes the friendly exchanges between different civilizations.
Principal Wang Wei has long been dedicated to promoting intangible cultural heritage. She actively advances the internationalization of intangible cultural heritage,Significant achievements have been made over the past two years. Unlike traditional intangible cultural heritage (ICH) bearers, Wang Wei prefers to call herself an "ICH communicator." She believes that while it is important to be an ICH bearer, more people can contribute by spreading ICH, thereby promoting the development of the cultural industry, enhancing the international influence of Chinese culture, and achieving joint prosperity of culture and economy. She firmly believes that through such efforts, Chinese culture will shine even brighter on the global stage.
